Special Offers I have Spied....

Know we are heading to winter when party stragglers drinking beer are spotted in the streets as others are heading off to work.

Lots of news from the World Cup Slalom in Levi at the weekend. Val's own reigning Olympic Champion Clément Noël came 2nd in his first race since he was injured last year.

Team GB for the first time had 4 skiers in the same race, 3 ended up in the top 30, 2 in the top 10 with 38 year old Dave Ryding 7th and Laurie Taylor had a career best of 4th. Billy Major came 27th.

Luca Carrick-Smith had a brave debut but didn't finish.

Brazil had their first ever World Cup victory, when Lucas Pinheiro Braathen won.

He named his reindeer Bjørn in honour of his father.

Lindsey Vonn, in her spare time, when not training for her 5th Olympics, has launched a ski wear collection made by Head.

The Vonn Collective….

After months of doubt and worry Marcel Hirscher says he will race again in January.

31-year-old French champion Cyprien Sarrazin won't be racing this season but will be in Val, as a spectator, for the Criterium in December.

23-year-old Caitlin McFarlane came 13th on Saturday.....for France !

Born in Sydney, father Australian, mother English, lives in Morzine.

Have heard good things about the ski holiday finding Heidi.com and they have a Black Friday sale...

Lo Terrachu by the lake in Tignes Is having a bring and buy sale on the 3rd of December…

At least ten percent of all sales will go to the charities.

Good morning Val d’Isère

We did have drizzle in town

Yesterday afternoon

Though not enough for even a hat

Let alone an umbrella.

Damp

drizzle and snow

Cloudy and a bit windy today

Max temperature 4 degrees

Do feel that the winter is

Gearing up

When on my early morning

Doodle walk

I meet

People

Staggering along

A little worse for wear

Drinking

beer…

The men’s racing was exciting….

Val’s Reigning Olympic Champion

Clément Noël

Was back after injury

And came an impressive 2nd.

Meanwhile….

2 out of the 4 Team GB racers

Were in the top 10

And 3 in the top 30.

It is the first time Team GB

Have had four skiers in a

World Cup race

And only the 2nd time

We have had 2 top 10 ers

In a World Cup event….

29-year-old Laurie Taylor came fourth,

His career best

While 38-year-old Dave Ryding,

7th

And Billy Major 27th.

The race was won

By Lucas Pinheiro Braathen

Who you will remember

Previously raced for Norway.

Briefly retired

Now is racing for Brazil.

This was Brazil’s first ever

World cup victory !

He sweetly named

The reindeer he won

Bjørn

After his Norwegian father.

Lindsey Vonn wasn’t racing this weekend

Apart from training

And aiming for her fifth Olympics

She has been busy…

Launching a ski wear collection

Produced by Head.

The Vonn Collective….

Designed for women who

Ski with confidence

And live

Boldly ….

Doesn’t just look good….

Precision tailoring

Strategic insulation

Advanced weather protection.

36-year-old Marcel Hirscher

Has shared that

He will race again in January…

You will remember

That he retired

Then returned to racing

But an ACL tear

In training last December

Put a stop to last season….

He hit rock bottom

Not sure if he would be

Able to risk racing

He is now clearly feeling more optimistic.

We won’t see

31-year-old French champion

Cyprien Sarrazin

Racing this season

As he is still recovering

After his terrible crash last December.

His head and knee

Are getting there…

Just won’t be ready for speed.

he says he is going to put skis on soon….

Small steps, turns and schusses…..

He is coming, as a spectator

To Critérium next month in Val…

The Garage

Restaurant and bar

Not the petrol station….

Are opening on the 22nd

They are keen for you to share

Any ideas you have

For your catering needs….

Contact them at any time

Or come to their

Petit apéro de ‘Welcome-Back’

Don’t know if when you were

Looking through

The ladies results

From Levi on Saturday

You spotted

23-year-old Caitlin McFarlane….

And thought

With a name like that

there

Was a typo

And flag icon error…..

Nope she skis for France !

She was born in Australia

Australian Father, English mother

came to France when she was 3

And lives in Morzine…

if you are either English or Australian

Feel free to

Cheer her on

As ‘one of your own’

Haven’t personally used it

Because I don’t need to

As I only need to walk

Across the road

To the bus stop

To ski in Val….

However

I have heard that the

Website

Heidi.com

Is great for finding ski holidays

That suit your needs

And they have a black Friday sale on….

Why not have a look….

If you do use it

Let me know if you found it helpful.

I flicked through the site

And was expecting to see

A picture of a girl with plaits

Skipping across mountain meadows…

But no

Heidi

Is actually

Brothers

Marcus and Alexander…..

Another chance to

Save the planet

Or part of it

Save some euros

And feel good

By helping 2 charities….

Lo Terrachu by the lake in Tignes

Is having a bring and buy sale

On the 3rd of December…

Bar opens from 12

To drop of anything you would like

To sell

Or donate.

At least ten percent of all sales

Will go to

The charities.

Solea and Snowcamp.

As you know Snowcamp

Believes every young person

Deserves to thrive

Whatever their background.

They use snowsports to

Break down barriers

Build confidence

And create brighter futures.

Two celebrations caught my attention

UK Homemade Bread day….

Think this got a boost during the pandemic

When

Everyone seemed to be

Caring for their mother….

Sourdough mother……

Over in the States

Is  UnFriend Day

Where they suggest you go through your

Facebook

Friends

And cull any that aren’t REALLY friends !

Save your time and energy

For the people that count !

Must go

Busy day ahead

Finishing with our Monday art class…..

Such a fun group

So much to learn

See you tomorrow.
