As the Winter Olympics approach, two of France's hopefuls are racing to get fit after injuries.
Get fit to ski before you arrive here..........Moving Mountains in Sussex looks pretty good, especially for beginners learning to stand up, turn and stop safely. There is 25% off lessons until the 24th October.
We love it when a helicopter flies in to help when we need help, but they are not as popular with the people who live next to the aerodrome in Albertville..........noise...........noise and more noise.........so no they don't want an expansion.
Check your insurance really carefully before you leave the UK. Do you have your GHIC ? Does it cover off piste ?
USA National Free thought day..............pause for thought !
GOOD MORNING VAL DISERE Another sunny day in the mountains. With just a gentle breeze

Life as an athlete is tough Too little training Too much training
Injury Recovery
Patience is a virtue Say those who have it…..
Two of France’s Olympic hopefuls Are champing at their bits.
The French Sprint star Thirty-year-old Lucas Chanavat Has been resting for over a month So far with a Stress fracture of his tibia Even gentle cycling aggravated it
Meanwhile Savoyarde Freestyle skier Tess Ledeux Has resigned herself to missing the beginning of the season.
She fell in March and is still getting headaches
It is so HARD When the Olympics are only every four years And the next Is in four months

If you fancy skiing on an industrial estate In Sussex ACTUALLY Looks pretty good Especially when you are learning To stand up Turn And stop On either skis or snowboard…
Would certainly save you Time And pain Before you splash your euros on snow….
Mentioning them TODAY Because until the Twenty fourth of October you get Twenty five percent off lessons…..
Have put the link in the episode description AND The Special offers I have Spied Page on website

I used to live under the flight path for Concorde Magnificent as it went past Though you couldn’t hear to speak.
So lots of sympathy For the people In Albertville Trying to Limit the number of helicopters Using The aerodrome
Forty flights a day Seven days a week
Sadly not even a fly over and land Or take off and away
Training exercises…… Maintenance, repairs then tests…. And retests
Not surprisingly local residents Are trying to block an expansion
Whatever Noise reduction barriers promised Helicopters are not quiet…
Do you remember the winter when There were Helicopter Sight seeing rides Around our valley.
NOISY NIGHTMARE !! Glad it didn’t continue…
The Aerodrome defends itself
apparently there are half the number of flights Than previously
they don’t fly low over houses or gardens OR Rather Not lower than allowed……
Let us never forget Well maintained Helicopters With highly trained pilots do need easy access to our ski resorts
some of the Biggest ski areas in the world…….
They will bother SOMEONE
We certainly Hug the helicopter When the whirly bird Lands In our hour of need……..
There is no easy solution

Few quick insurance tips…….
OBVIOUSLY don’t ski without ANY insurance
You can buy one for only a few euros a day with your ski pass
If you are skiing off piste Make sure your insurance SPECIFICALLY covers Off piste…
This is even centimetres on the ‘wrong’ side of the poles…..
If you have a broken neck You DO NOT want a friend pulling you back Between the poles….
If you have an insurance that covers For example Two weeks skiing a year…….. CHECK If you need to give them your dates Before you leave…………
This is certainly the case for the insurance That comes with the Black Membership from
Read your policy BEFORE you leave home. If you have any doubts Contact the insurers for confirmation
make sure they put their answer in writing.
Years ago Someone asked their insurer if they were covered as they Were not ski professionals Ie not instructors or similar But skied as part of their job…
Assured that they were covered.
One had a serious injury Their partner Was THEN told that NOT covered
LUCKILY they had The advice they had received In writing.
INSURER then AGREED he was covered…..
Believe me When your partner is injured You DO NOT want to be arguing With the insurer……. I have been there…. WAY TOO STRESSFUL.
Do have your GHIC card Attached to insurance documents.
I spent HOURS In ‘DISCUSSION’ with one insurer Who was Asking for my friends GHIC number
they didn’t understand That the Isle of Man Is DIFFERENT To the UK…..
Doesn’t have GHIC So Doesn’t have the reciprocal arrangement So the French Insurer Was going to have to pay for THE WHOLE Forty thousand euro bill……
With the GHIC They just pay a small percentage…….
I BELIEVE that in the small print Of most British insurers They will say you need a GHIC…… So Check you have one And that it has not expired |
11 celebrations today…. The two I chose are Gumbo….. because I had never heard of it…and am always curious….it is the official state cuisine of the Louisiana thick stew-like soup of meat, okra, and Creole and Cajun seasonings Sounds delicious…. would be great for a ski lunch.
Then ….. something I have heard of ………. Feel strongly about…….. But wonder if it IS being Celebrated THIS YEAR ….. In the USA National FREE THOUGHT DAY……….. Pause for thought Food for thought.
Will leave you with that ….maybe don’t post your answers on social media if you are heading there anytime soon !
See you on Monday. |
